Hindustani clsssical vovalist pandit BHIMSEN JOSHI has been awarded bharat ratna.the 86 yr old doyen of KIRANA gharana is credited with leading the renaissnce of indian classical music.the celebrated singer through his magical grip over GAYAKI styles created unique blend.Receipient of several other awards including PADMA BHUSAN and PADAM SHREE joshi endeared himself to greatness with generation of music lovers with his khayals and bhajans.Born in 1922 in gadag karnatka joshi left home at age 11.Joshi left home in search of GURU and homing on USTAD HAFIZ KHAN of gwalior.later he began training underSWAMI GANDHRVA

FIRST PERFORMANCE-he gave his first line of performance at 19 yrs of age.

DEBUT ALBUM-cut his debut album acollection of bhajans in kannada at 20.
