rajnigandha phool tumhare:remembring yogesh

Yogesh gaur or yogesh a native of Lucknow,came to Bombay(mumbai) in search of employment.passing away of father forced him to leave studies in middle and move Bombay
friends,acquaintances and self vision of employment guided yogesh to mayanagri.the untimely death of non-pensioner father led hi to employment though focus was initially not mayanagri rather a job.having no idea on what to start.what he can deliver best,yogesh began with stories,later sailed on scripts and dialogues.
satyaprakash motivated him to look for potential within.living in chawl long struggle followed. a decision to struck of "gaur" fro name made struggle shiner.the healthy childhood habit of writing and memorizing poetry made writing an option to begin with.Lucknow's literary cultural background made yogesh what he finally went for... poetry.extremely poetry fond mother with providence helped him sail on lyrics

humble beginning:yogesh had humble beginning with masoom(1963).scared of becoming lyricist to match tunes,he met robin banerjee then working on masoom.for a month yogesh visited banerjee's music room to write lyrics ion tunes,what he was not expecting. eye opener,poet realized the film trend of writing lyrics on composer's tunes.being scared earlier,the poet welcomed ,liked and went ahead.melody made tunes driven lyrics...a bright new star was on the bollywood horizon

robin banerjee's venture sakhi robin with yogesh was hit and consequently signed nine small films.most of which like marvel man,flying circus and adventure of robin hood were written by yogesh.

teaming with anjaan: for massom yogesh got rs 25 per song.a satyen bose film.poet launch film didnot gathered much at box office.similar to yogesh the hopes of lyricist anjaan on godaan turnes castle in air.box office collections for each of movies was meagre.the coincidence brought yogesh and anjaan together on one platform .for several subsequent films,they decided to work together.

salil chaudhry and fruitful association:yogesh has had a frui
tful association with salilda.having no money to buy own gramophone.he use to visit sabita chaudhry to listen hios own records.sabita married later salil chaudhry.marriage turned healthy as it was sabita who recommendec yogesh to salilda, that time salilda was making a comeback with with hrishikesh mukherjee's anand

as shailendra was no more,yogesh took off with anand . a favourite of yogesh salilda initially was reserved,once opened up agraet peson to work with.for the poet "he was probaably only bengali composer with surprising hindi lyric sense.a writer-poet salil chaudhry stepped bollywood as bengali literature lost its greatest poet post tagore.

known for twisted ,convoluted,jalrbi compositions,yogesh sailed with mentor however evenin songs like" nis din nis din" "payas liye manwa" or "rajnigandha phool tumhare"it was salilda whose metres turned yogesh onto kavi.yogesh has had most fruitful association with salil chaudhry,their association befgan memorably with anand and went on to give anokha daan,us paar, minoo,annadata,anandmahal,rajni gandha.manzilen aur bhi hain
generation of composers: yogesh has had oppurtunity to work with father and son composers.salil-sanjay chaudhry and sd-rd burman .he won for S D BURMAN's great presence.us paar and mili are living memories of grand association.post setting melodies S.D burman fell seriusly ill in the middle now it was turn of R.D BURMAN. RD recorded "maine kaha phoolon se " and " badi suni suni hai y zindagi"
fifth in rd burman lyricist list however yogesh associaton with panchamda proved fruitful with 8-10 films together.
hrishikesh mukherjee: anand a fim about anever say die attitude of soon to die person.with the film yogesh took off.hrishikesh mukherjee saw a japanese movie a a film festival,impressed with with movie mukherjee remade inot anand but also remade his own remake with female protogonist this time(mili).
hrihida and yogesh worked in several fils like sabse bada sukh mili, rang birangi and kisi se na kahna.

: yogesh reached excellence without nay kind of poetic base.cousin to famous vrijendra gaur,yogesh never took privilege being gaur.he struck off gaur from yogesh to settle for struggle alone.i personally do feel lucknow's cultural upbringing coupled with poetry fond mother,memorizing of poetry and bombay struggle experience collectively shaped yogesh brilliance.

rajnigandha: rajnigandah(1974), a heart waming movie one of first low budget alternate cinema movies in 1970's.rajnigandha is simple tale about simple characters.
as it is said ,a good film is either a complicated tale about simple characters or simple tale with complicated characters.rajnigandha donot fall in either lines.movie trie to tell the real life stories with actors who looked like real life characters.the audience were not matured enough to take to such movie in grand way,but it is so nice that connoisseurs of quality cinema appreciated the movie.based on mannu bhandhari's short story"yehi sach hai" a faithful reproduction of story.essentially story on women who meets her ex boyfriend.lyricist yogesh has shown the stroke of master writing with "kai baar yun hi dekha hai"the lines summarize the whole story for film. a first person account of complex dilemmatic mind of women.singer mukesh won his only filmfare for "kai baar"

rajnigandha indeed garnered the filfmare award for the best film.the songs in this movie are not sung by actors rather the songs are used as part of the background music.a fr esh thing in bollywood. new faces ,no twists and turns in story,no huge sets,no action thrills.still the film was hit and remembers by many as it touched many a chords.

performances by amol palekar and vidya sinha are one of natural acts.

rajnigandha takes audienceson journey of feelings and thoughts of vidya sinha(deepa)
we curiously witness her confusions.deepa s split in history and present and later her final decision chooses oneperson and surrenders in his arms.anice sober love story with shades of chracter in riight direction.a rare excellent daptation nothing of opriginal story in the film has beenlost

"rajnigandha phool tumhare" the title song of movie with lata mangeshkar ,salil chaudhary and yogesh is one of flowery song.vidya sinha is just passing het time in sanjay absense.with difficulty to concentrate on thesis,she is missing him a lot.though deepa knows that sanjay is out to meet her yet she waits .she waits that sanjay would bring flowers it is here song starts.

choti si baat: 1970s saw the emergence of snall budget family entertainers.amol palelkar and vidya sinha are two of leading stars of such movies.rajnigandha and choti si baat have much in common and are ssen as extensionsof each other.

"najane kyun hota hai y zindagi k sath" yogesh lyric captures the dilemma feeling of working women in the metro to welcome love or not.a man comes into her loner life engulfedin decisions.she has to make decision a choice as there is real chance of loosing out oppurtunity on amol palekar.in love with male protogonist there is insecurity generated in her character due to hero's indecison

amol palekar is clumpsy man add to indecision.now it is indecion on either side " na jane kyun" palekar takes a crash course from ashok kumar on the art of impressing the fair sex.orientation awaited to match the ends.situation is hilarious but at the same time cause of real worry for many menin lines with amol palekarism.a dilemma vis-a-vis shy amol palekar is beaurtifully expreesed inyogesh lyrics on behalf of loner vidya sinha.

"janeman janeman" it is dream song with amol palekar.he goes to watch a film and onscreen visualize that he has relaced dharmendra and hemamalini is replaced by vidya sinha.song beautifully addresses amol palekar likeness for vidya sinha in the film

baton baton me: a romantic comedy by basu chaterjee,the film makes audience smile.a predictable turnout there is nothing surprising in the movie yet bato baton me keeps audience hooked to screen
therte are four songs in the movie which are written by yogesh and amit khanna.the baeauty of the movie llies in direction-narration story characters lyrics.

anand: anand is class hrishikesh mukherjee film.a memorable account about a soon to die rajesh khanna.anand has blooming character ever hopeful to life..he has charisma never seen before on indian screen.everytim he walks over the audience is sustained,message delivered .its somgs are no less popular justa about every song of movie went o to become ahit
"zindagi kaisi hai y pahelo hai" and " kahi door jab di dhal jaye" are class exhibition of poetry.while " paheli" is class manna dey song mukesh is brighter in"kahin door jab"

kahin door jab is a song for which one needs to know anand story.the song breaks the light atmosphere of film and reminds thr audience that its after all atragic story.

zindagi kaisi hai y paheli its manna dey booming bulund voce reflrcts the neer say die spirit of soon to die anand. song is yogesh and manna dey are at their philosophical best.


manzil: rains have always motivated the poets and played an vital part in films as they bring out the tender feelings of love

"rimjhim gire sawan" by yogesh is all about togetherness .it tells about the experiences of spending a day with the person one loves.
